2015 DowntownDC Banner Branding
Photo-mosaic figures represent the “fabric” that makes up Downtown on over 350 new street pole banners in Downtown D.C.
I was responsible for a complete re-design of the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) banners in 2015. Additionally, I managed the production and installation of the 384 new street pole banners throughout the BID.
The designs include bikers cycling, athletes entertaining crowds, a woman standing in tree pose and other activities. Each banner features a figure’s contours but if you take a closer look, you’ll see that each image is composed of hand-curated photo mosaic of nearly 1,000 photos from the BID library of Downtown people, places and events from the past decade. The mosaic represents the “fabric” that makes up Downtown. Photo mosaic generation software and Photoshop were used to achieve the multi-layered effect of the design.
